  1973 911 RS Look

General

When I stopped by to visit Ken, a friend of some years, my attention was attracted by a bright blue early 911. While this was some time before the RS clone mania had gotten underway, there sat a really neat looking look-alike. Ken had spent some time modifying this car to enter the fun of driving on the track. However, on this date, the car was languishing in a storage building, fairly complete, since Ken had decided that he'd really rather spend his retirement years fishing. After sensing his current lack of interest in the car, I asked if he had given any thought to selling it. Things gradually fell into place over the next several months, a bagain was struck and the car was loaded and ready for a trip to my garage.

The '73 1/2 CIS car had been set up by Ken for the track, but he never drove it other than a few miles on the street before deciding to spend his time on the water fishing, rather than at the track. Many of the mods were appealing, such as the fiberglass front spoiler, rear bumper, and duck tail. And of course the RSR raised spindle front Bilstiens and aluminum S calipers, monoball top strut mounts and strut brace. Oh, and don't forget the steel Carrera flares at the rear. However, some expenses had been spared in the prep for the track, such as the paint and the underlying body work. Other modifications to the car were not the best for the street, such as the choice of Delrin for every suspension bushing. The stock 2.4 engine was somewhat tired, and begged to be replaced. The interior had been stripped of carpet, and an Autopower bolt-in cage installed.
